Terms and Conditions of Attendance, Trading and Participation
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern attendance, trading, exhibiting, volunteering, performing, appearing at, or otherwise taking part in NOR-CON Comic Con (“the Event”). The purchase, acceptance or possession of a ticket, invitation, trader booking, exhibitor booking, group invitation, wristband, pass or other event credential (“Credential”) confirms your acceptance of these Terms in full, together with all Event rules, venue rules, safety instructions, and any reasonable direction given by NORCON Events Limited, venue staff, security, contractors or authorised representatives (together, “NORCON”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
These Terms apply to all attendees, ticket holders, invited guests, traders, exhibitors, groups, volunteers, contractors, press and content creators, and any other person attending or participating in the Event (together, “you”, “your”). Where these Terms conflict with any verbal statement made by staff, volunteers or contractors, these written Terms take precedence unless expressly varied in writing by NORCON.
1. Event Organiser and Definitions
NOR-CON Comic Con is organised by NORCON Events Limited. References to “NOR-CON”, “NORCON”, “the organisers”, “we”, “us” or “our” mean NORCON Events Limited and its authorised staff, representatives, contractors and agents.
In these Terms: “Credential” means any ticket, wristband, badge, pass, barcode, QR code or other means of entry or accreditation issued by NORCON; “Venue” means the site, building, car parks and surrounding areas designated for the Event; “you” and “your” mean the person holding, using or benefiting from a Credential, and, in the case of traders, exhibitors and groups, includes their staff, volunteers and representatives.
2. Tickets, Wristbands and Entry
Tickets are issued subject to these Terms. NORCON reserves the right to refuse or restrict ticket sales to any person.
Ticket purchasers must be aged 18 or over. Attendees under the age of 14 must be accompanied at all times by a supervising adult aged 18 or over, at a ratio of no more than three (3) children per adult, and that adult remains fully responsible for their conduct and safety throughout the Event. NORCON may request proof of age or supervision arrangements at entry and may refuse admission where it is not satisfied these requirements are met.
A complimentary or reduced-price Carer/Personal Assistant ticket is available on request for attendees who require support due to a disability or access need. Requests should be made in advance of the Event through NORCON’s official ticketing channel; NORCON reserves the right to request supporting evidence and to decline a request that is not made in good time.
Entry is controlled by a unique ticket number, barcode, QR code, wristband or other Credential. Each Credential may only be used once and only by the same person for entry on each day of a multi-day Event unless expressly stated otherwise. Allowing a Credential to be used by a different person may result in both the original holder and the other person being refused entry or removed from the Event without refund.
The first person to present a valid Credential for entry will be treated as its authorised holder and will be admitted, subject to these Terms. Duplicated, copied, altered, defaced, damaged, forged, transferred, resold or otherwise invalid Credentials will not be accepted, and any person attempting to use one may be refused entry or removed from the Event without refund or compensation.
Wristbands, stamps or other physical Credentials must not be removed, transferred, tampered with or damaged. Removal or tampering may invalidate entry or re-entry, at NORCON’s discretion.
Registered guide dogs and other assistance dogs are welcome at the Event in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. No other animals or pets may be brought into the Venue, save where NORCON has given prior written permission.
NORCON reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any person from the Event, without refund, where we reasonably believe they have breached these Terms, venue rules, safety or licensing requirements, or any reasonable instruction given by staff or security. Our decision is final.
3. Refunds, Refund Protection, Transfers, Postponement and Cancellation
Tickets are sold for the Event as a whole and not for any specific guest, actor, celebrity, performer, panel, stage talk, photoshoot, trader, exhibitor, attraction, display or activity. All advertised guests, performers, traders, exhibitors, attractions, activities and programme items are subject to availability and may change or be withdrawn without prior notice and without entitling any ticket holder to a refund for general admission.
We will make reasonable efforts to announce significant changes via our website, social media, ticketing platform, pre-event communications or onsite announcements where practical, but last-minute changes may occur and NORCON has no control over guest availability, professional commitments, illness, travel disruption or other matters outside its reasonable control.
No Refund and No Transfer Policy
NORCON operates a strict No Refund and No Transfer Policy in line with standard practice at UK conventions. Tickets cannot be refunded, exchanged or transferred to another person or event date except as set out in this Section 3.
Refund Protection
At checkout, customers may choose to add optional Refund Protection to a booking for an additional fee. Refund Protection is provided by NORCON’s ticketing partner and, where purchased, allows a claim to be made if you are unable to attend for a qualifying reason (which may include illness, injury, bereavement, jury service, or other reasons set out in the Refund Protection policy shown at checkout).
To make a claim, you must contact the provider named on your Refund Protection confirmation within the timeframe stated in that policy, ordinarily before the Event takes place, and provide any supporting evidence requested. Refund Protection is optional, is not provided by NORCON directly, and its terms take precedence over this Section in the event of any conflict. Tickets purchased without Refund Protection are non-refundable in all circumstances other than those set out below.
Postponement and Cancellation by NORCON
If the Event is postponed to a new date, your Credential will automatically transfer to the rescheduled date and no refund will be due. If the Event is cancelled outright, or moved to a different venue in a way that materially disadvantages you (for example, a significant change of city or region), you will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price paid, excluding any booking or service fees, without the need to purchase Refund Protection.
Refunds under this Section will be processed to the original payment method within a reasonable time of the cancellation being confirmed. NORCON is not liable for any other costs you may incur in connection with the Event, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or costume expenses.
Ticket Resale
Tickets must only be purchased through NORCON’s official ticketing channels. Private resale of NORCON tickets is not permitted. Tickets advertised through social media, resale sites or unofficial third parties may be fraudulent or invalid, and NORCON accepts no liability for any loss suffered as a result of purchasing tickets through unofficial channels.
4. Guest Appearances, Photoshoots, Autographs and Selfies
Guest appearances, panels, stage talks and photoshoots are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice. The cancellation or amendment of an individual guest appearance, photoshoot, autograph session, stage talk or panel does not entitle a ticket holder to a refund for general Event admission.
Some guests charge separately for autographs, selfies, photoshoots, recordings or other services. Prices, availability and rules for these are set by the guest, their agent, or NORCON, and may change without notice. Purchases of guest-specific items or experiences are non-refundable except where the guest fails to appear for reasons within NORCON’s control.
Photography, filming or recording of guests may be restricted at the guest’s request; you must follow any instruction given by guests, their agents, event staff or security.
Guests will not accept personal contact details, unsolicited scripts, gifts, promotional material, convention invitations, business proposals, flyers or other material from attendees unless expressly agreed in advance by NORCON. Attempting to do so may result in removal from the Event.
5. Photography, Filming, Recording Devices and Media
By attending, trading, exhibiting or otherwise taking part in the Event, you acknowledge that you may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed or otherwise recorded by official NOR-CON photographers, videographers, press or authorised content creators, and that such official media may be used by NORCON for event coverage, archival purposes, social media, website content, advertising, marketing, press and other legitimate Event-related purposes. Official event media remains the property of NORCON or the relevant authorised creator, subject to any applicable agreement.
NORCON is not responsible for photographs, videos, recordings, livestreams or other media captured by members of the public, attendees, traders, exhibitors, guests, press or other third parties, nor for the use, misuse, publication or distribution of such material by those parties.
Professional camera equipment, tripods, gimbals, boom microphones, or other recording rigs may only be used by press or content creators holding valid accreditation issued under Section 15. Drones and other unmanned aerial recording devices are not permitted anywhere on the Venue at any time without prior written permission from NORCON. Smart glasses and other wearable recording devices capable of covertly photographing or filming other attendees (including but not limited to Meta Ray-Ban style devices) are not permitted at the Event, save where required for medical reasons. Any attendee wishing to wear such a device on medical grounds must carry a current, in-date letter from a medical professional confirming this need and must present it to staff or security on request. Even where worn for a medical reason, such a device must not be used to record other attendees without their consent, and NORCON may require the device to be removed or its use discontinued if it gives rise to a complaint or safety concern.
Images submitted to NORCON for inclusion on the NOR-CON website, social media pages, galleries or promotional material may be used for NOR-CON promotional purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing. NORCON is not responsible for such images being subsequently copied, shared, reused or misused by third parties once published.
Where an image has already been published and used for marketing purposes, including on social media, it may not be possible for NORCON to recall, remove or edit that image from all platforms, feeds, shares or caches once it has been posted. If you contact us after publication to raise a concern about an image of you, we will not be able to guarantee its removal or amendment, but we will ensure that image is not knowingly used again by NORCON in any future marketing or promotional material.
6. Personal Belongings, Safety and Liability
You enter the Venue, car parks and surrounding areas at your own risk. Attendees are responsible for their own belongings at all times, and NORCON is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced property except where caused by our negligence.
While NORCON will take reasonable precautions to support attendee safety, we cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage, injury or illness except where caused by our negligence or where liability cannot legally be excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability which cannot legally be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
Save as set out above, NORCON’s total liability to you in connection with the Event, however arising, shall not exceed the price paid for your Credential.
7. Lost and Found Property
Any item found at the Event should be handed to a member of NORCON staff or the Information Point. NORCON will make reasonable efforts to reunite found property with its owner during the Event, but accepts no obligation to do so and no liability for items not recovered.
Unclaimed property will be held for a limited period after the Event, not exceeding 28 days, after which it may be donated, disposed of, or destroyed at NORCON’s discretion. Perishable, food, drink or clothing items handed in as found property may be disposed of immediately for hygiene reasons. NORCON does not post lost property and is not responsible for arranging its return; collection or courier arrangements, if offered, are at the finder’s own cost.
8. Communicable Diseases and Public Health
By attending the Event, you acknowledge that public events carry an inherent risk of exposure to communicable diseases, viruses and infections, and that NORCON cannot guarantee attendees will not be exposed to these at the Event.
NORCON will take reasonable steps to follow applicable public health guidance or legal requirements in force at the time of the Event. You must not attend if you are required by law or official guidance to isolate, or if you know or suspect you present a risk of transmitting a contagious illness to others.
9. Behaviour, Harassment and Conduct
NOR-CON is intended to be a welcoming, safe and enjoyable event for all attendees, guests, traders, exhibitors, staff, volunteers and participants. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to: physical or verbal threats, intimidation, stalking or following, unwanted physical contact, aggressive or lewd behaviour, sexually explicit comments or conduct, offensive language or gestures, discriminatory remarks relating to race, religion, ethnicity, disability, gender or sexuality, bullying, and any other behaviour which creates a hostile, unsafe, intimidating or disruptive environment.
Cosplay is not consent. Wearing a costume, performing as a character, carrying props, or taking part in cosplay does not give anyone permission to touch, photograph, film, follow, harass or make inappropriate comments towards another person.
Any person found to be harassing others, behaving inappropriately, causing a disturbance, ignoring staff instructions, or otherwise breaching these Terms may be removed from the Event immediately, without refund and without readmission on any future occasion.
10. Complaints and Reporting Procedure
Any harassment, safeguarding or safety concern should be reported immediately to a NORCON team member, event security, venue staff or an authorised representative, so that it can be addressed during the Event wherever possible.
Where a report cannot be fully resolved onsite, you may submit a written complaint to NORCON through our official contact channels within 14 days of the Event. NORCON will acknowledge receipt within a reasonable time and aims to provide a substantive response within 28 days, though complex matters, including those requiring input from venue management, security contractors or the police, may take longer. NORCON’s decision on any action taken as a result of a complaint, including any decision on readmission to future events, is final.
11. Cosplay, Costumes and Props
NOR-CON welcomes cosplay, subject to Event safety rules, venue rules and reasonable standards of conduct. Some costumes may be intimidating, frightening or otherwise unsuitable for very young children; parents, guardians and carers are responsible for supervising children in their care and for judging whether particular areas or displays are suitable.
NORCON reserves the right to refuse admission with, or to require the alteration or removal of, any costume, prop, sign, display or item that it considers unsafe, offensive, discriminatory, overly revealing, politically or religiously inflammatory, sexually inappropriate, obstructive, or otherwise unsuitable for a family-friendly public event. This decision may be made by any member of NORCON staff or security and is final.
12. Weapons, Props and Restricted Items
NOR-CON operates a strict no-real-weapons policy. All cosplay weapons and props must be non-functional, safe, and peace-bonded where required by staff or security.
No functioning projectile weapons of any kind are permitted, including but not limited to airsoft weapons, BB guns, pellet guns, water pistols, silly-string guns, ping-pong pistols, crossbows and slingshots, or any item capable of firing a projectile of any kind.
Bladed props must be blunt, safe, and kept sheathed, cased or otherwise secured at all times other than when being used for an approved photograph or cosplay presentation under staff supervision.
Real knives, firearms, explosives, pyrotechnics, dangerous tools, sharp weapons, illegal weapons, or any other item deemed unsafe by NORCON or security are strictly prohibited and will be confiscated. Drones and other unmanned aircraft are not permitted anywhere on the Venue without NORCON’s prior written permission (see also Section 5).
Any prop or item used in an offensive, threatening, dangerous or irresponsible manner may be confiscated, and the person responsible may be removed from the Event without refund. NORCON and event security reserve the right to inspect, peace-bond, refuse, confiscate or require the removal of any prop, weapon, costume element or item considered unsafe or unsuitable, and their decision is final.
Attendees bringing a remote-controlled, motorised or driveable prop or droid must notify NORCON in advance, and must be able to show valid Public Liability Insurance covering that item on request. A second person must accompany the operator at all times to act as a spotter while the item is in use or in motion around the Venue. Costumes or props that are unusually bulky, made of rigid or hard materials, or extend significantly beyond normal human dimensions must also be accompanied by a spotter. NORCON’s own insurance does not extend to cover any remote-controlled, motorised or driveable prop or droid, or any loss, damage or injury arising from its use.
13. Alcohol, Food, Drink, Smoking and Vaping
No alcohol may be brought into or consumed inside the Venue unless expressly permitted by the venue and Event licence. Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the Venue and may only take place in designated external areas where provided.
Food and drink purchased outside the Venue may not be brought inside; all outside food and drink must be consumed in the designated external food area. This does not apply where food, drink or medicine is required at regular intervals for a medical reason, in which case it may be brought into the Venue provided that drinks are carried in a sealed container, flask or plastic bottle (no glass bottles or open cups), and provided that food from external vendors is not brought inside the Venue.
14. Flyers, Leaflets and Promotional Material
Flyers, cards, leaflets, posters, samples, promotional items or marketing material may not be placed, distributed, handed out, left or displayed anywhere at the Event, including in queues, car parks or immediate grounds, without prior written permission from NORCON. Unauthorised material may be removed and disposed of without notice, and anyone continuing to distribute unauthorised material after being asked to stop may be removed from the Event without refund.
15. Press and Content Creator Accreditation
Individuals or organisations wishing to attend in a press, media or professional content-creator capacity must apply for accreditation in advance through NORCON’s official channels. Accreditation is granted at NORCON’s discretion and may be subject to conditions, including restrictions on filming locations, embargoes on publishing certain content until a specified time, and requirements to credit NORCON or specific guests where directed.
Accreditation is personal to the individual or organisation to whom it is issued, must be visibly displayed at all times, and may not be transferred, shared or lent. NORCON may revoke accreditation immediately and without refund of any associated fee where the holder breaches these Terms, misuses their access, or fails to comply with any condition attached to their accreditation.
16. Website Terms
The content of the NOR-CON website is provided for general information only and may change without notice. The website may use cookies and similar technologies to monitor browsing preferences, improve functionality, analyse traffic and support the user experience; further information is provided in our Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy.
Neither NORCON nor any third party gives any warranty as to the accuracy, timeliness, completeness or suitability for any purpose of information or material on the website, which may contain inaccuracies or errors. Use of the website and reliance on its content is entirely at your own risk, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
The website and its content, including design, layout, text, branding and graphics, is owned by or licensed to NORCON. Reproduction is prohibited except in accordance with the relevant copyright notice or with our prior written permission; unauthorised use may give rise to a claim for damages and/or constitute a criminal offence. Trademarks reproduced on the website which are not NORCON’s property are acknowledged where appropriate.
The website may link to third-party websites for convenience and information only. These links do not signify endorsement, and NORCON has no responsibility for the content, accuracy, availability or practices of any linked third-party website.
17. Personal Data, Email Updates and Marketing
NORCON may collect and process personal information provided through ticket purchases, newsletter subscriptions, trader or exhibitor applications, competition entries, contact forms, surveys, guest lists, accreditation applications, or other Event-related communications.
We will use your contact details to send you important service messages relating to your booking, application or attendance. Where permitted by law, we may also use your email address to contact you about future NOR-CON events, ticket releases, guest announcements, news, offers, competitions, and other NOR-CON related updates. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link provided or by contacting us directly.
We will not sell your personal information, and will not share it with advertisers, sponsors or unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes unless you have given clear consent or we are otherwise legally permitted to do so. We may share limited personal information with trusted service providers where necessary to operate the Event, process ticket sales, manage bookings, deliver communications, comply with legal obligations, or protect the safety and security of the Event. Personal data is handled in accordance with applicable data protection law and our Privacy Policy.
18. Traders, Exhibitors and Invited Groups
This Section applies to all traders, exhibitors, display groups, fan groups, invited groups and other organisations attending or participating in the Event (together, “traders”).
18.1 Insurance
Traders must maintain valid Public Liability Insurance with a reputable insurer throughout the Event, with a minimum limit of £5,000,000 unless otherwise agreed in writing by NORCON, and must provide a copy of the certificate on request; attendance may be conditional on this being provided before the Event. Traders must also hold adequate insurance covering cancellation, curtailment, loss, theft, damage, stock, equipment, staff, volunteers, product liability and employer’s liability where applicable.
Traders agree to indemnify NORCON, its officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, contractors and agents against any claim, cost, loss, damage, liability or expense arising from their attendance, display, activity, goods, services, conduct, negligence, breach of these Terms, or breach of applicable law.
18.2 Liability
NORCON is not liable for any loss, theft, damage or injury to persons, property, stock, displays, vehicles, equipment or materials belonging to any trader, its staff, volunteers, contractors or representatives, except where liability cannot legally be excluded. Each trader accepts full responsibility for any claim arising from its own stand, exhibit, display, stock, goods, services, equipment, staff, volunteers, contractors, conduct, negligence or breach of law.
18.3 Compliance
Traders must comply with these Terms, venue rules, health and safety requirements, fire regulations, trading standards, food safety law, licensing law, copyright and trademark law, insurance requirements, electrical safety requirements, and any reasonable direction from NORCON, venue staff, security, contractors or a competent authority.
All goods sold or displayed must be lawful, safe, genuine and suitable for sale. Traders are responsible for ensuring all merchandise meets applicable licensing, copyright, trademark, product safety and trading standards requirements. Counterfeit, bootleg, illegal, unsafe, offensive or unauthorised goods must not be sold or displayed. NORCON reserves the right to require the removal of any goods, displays, signage, material or activity it considers unsuitable, unsafe, unlawful, offensive, infringing, misleading, or in breach of these Terms.
18.4 Stand Operation
Traders must keep within their allocated space and must not obstruct aisles, exits, fire routes, emergency access, neighbouring stands or public areas. Stands must be staffed, presented and operated safely and professionally throughout public opening hours unless otherwise agreed. No trader may sublet, share, transfer or assign their space without NORCON’s prior written permission.
Electrical equipment must be safe, suitable and PAT tested where required, and cables must be safely managed so as not to create trip hazards. Any trader using displays, props, vehicles, generators, batteries, lighting, sound, moving parts, special effects, food equipment or other potentially hazardous items must obtain prior approval where required and comply with all safety instructions.
18.5 Cancellation by Traders, Exhibitors or Groups
Trader and exhibitor bookings are subject to the specific payment terms, cancellation terms and deadlines provided at the time of booking. Failure to pay by the required deadline may result in cancellation of the booking and loss of the allocated space, which NORCON may reallocate at its discretion, without refund of any deposit or fee paid.
18.6 Volunteers and Representatives
Traders are responsible for the behaviour, conduct and safety of their own staff, volunteers, assistants, contractors and representatives at all times. NORCON is not responsible for the actions, conduct or omissions of any trader’s volunteers, representatives or members outside the official Event operational dates and times.
19. Force Majeure
NORCON is not liable for any failure, delay, cancellation, disruption, alteration or reduction in Event content caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, fire, flood, epidemic, pandemic, public health restrictions, national mourning, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strike action, transport disruption, power failure, venue closure, government or emergency services instruction, guest cancellation, travel disruption, or supplier failure.
20. Changes to These Terms
NORCON may update or amend these Terms from time to time. The version published on the NOR-CON website, or otherwise issued by NORCON, at the relevant time shall apply. Where practical, we will highlight material changes, but it remains your responsibility to check the current Terms before attending or participating in the Event.
21. Governing Law
These Terms, and any dispute arising from them, the Event, ticket purchase, website use, trader booking, exhibitor booking or attendance at NOR-CON, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law provides otherwise.
22. Acceptance
By purchasing a Credential, booking, applying, accepting an invitation, entering the Event, or otherwise participating in NOR-CON, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions in full.
